A major restaurant group has immediately shut down six venues after becoming the latest hospitality operator to collapse. 

City Winery brisbane/index.html” id=”mol-ae903cb0-6ac3-11ef-a05b-7900138f7710″>Brisbane Pty Ltd, based in Queensland‘s capital made the difficult decision to enter voluntary liquidation on Wednesday- just five years after its first venue opened.

City Winery in Fortitude Valley and on Edward Street, and Ardo’s locations at Newstead, Milton, Hawthorne and Graceville have all closed, effective immediately.

 An unknown number of staff have also been terminated.

Darren Vardy from Insolvency Options Pty Ltd has been appointed as the liquidator and will soon be in contact with creditors.

It’s currently unknown how much money the business owes.

Chief executive Dave Cush said the decision was a heartbreaking one, citing a ‘drastic drop’ in customer spending, the Covid pandemic and the recent opening of the Star casino in Brisbane.
