Sydney-based liquor wholesaler Gateway Liquor has gone into liquidation following a meeting of company members this month.
Clifford Sanderson and John Gibbons from Dissolve were appointed as Joint and Several Liquidators, but a timeline for the process has yet to be established.
Gateway Liquor operates exclusively in Sydney, Southern Highlands, and the Central Coast, delivering beer, wine, spirits, and mixers with its own logistics team.
The company was also one of only three members of the National Independent Liquor Wholesalers Association (NILWA).
NILWA MD Martin O’Mara, however, told The Shout that the association is optimistic about the future despite the challenging time.
“The news regarding Gateway Liquor closing is a sad day for the liquor industry and highlights how tough the trading environment is for independents and how challenging on-premise wide-range wholesaling can be,” said O’Mara.
“Gateway’s owner and family, management, and staff have all worked incredibly hard to establish and grow their business. We acknowledge Gateway’s determination to remain trading since 2012, thank them for their support as NILWA members, and wish them all the best.”
