Rex passengers facing flight switches after the regional airline went into voluntary administration are urged to not try to organise their new trips at the airport.
The company confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday night, following mounting speculation after it suspended share trading on the ASX on Monday.
Flights between major airports have been cancelled, with the Rex Group’s domestic fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft all grounded.
Regional Saab 340 flights are currently unaffected and will continue to operate.
Affected customers are being contacted directly by the airline.
Rex customers with existing tickets on cancelled services are being offered a free transfer onto 13 overlapping Virgin Australia routes.
It was an offer that needed to be snapped up before August 14, the airline said.
To do so, customers should contact Virgin on 136 789, or visit the airline’s website, administrator Samuel Freeman of Ernst & Young said in a video posted on Rex’s X profile overnight.
