The ABC will announce dozens of job cuts on Thursday afternoon, including the role of political editor Andrew Probyn, as it prepares to undergo its most significant restructuring in several years.
Probyn confirmed his departure, and said he was gobsmacked by the decision.
Sources not authorised to speak on the topic confirmed the cuts to the broadcasters news division, with some staff notified in meetings with management on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
