Nine out of ten people with credit card debt will suffer a financial hangover in 2017 – after the season of goodwill saw generous shoppers rack up over £11billion on plastic – that’s an estimated £636 a household.
And to make matters worse, over half (52%) think they will still be paying it off when the tree goes up again in December 2017, according to uSwitch figures – with almost eight million Brits still shouldering the debt of last years Christmas bill.
The boom in cheap credit over the years has created a vicious circle, with one in 10 Brits saying they cannot ever imagine their lives being debt free.
