Long-time residents of Whyalla, where the steelworks have gone into voluntary administration, say uncertainty is having an impact on everyone and they are trying to support each other through a tough time.
Cafe owner Alessandro Parisi said this week’s news about Arrium was having an impact on his business as well as others.
“We’re starting to feel some of it already, clearly people are holding onto their resources that they have,” he said.
“The mood I’m gauging from the community is they’d just like some clearer direction coming out of the steelworks, just want to know exactly where we stand, short, and more importantly long-term.
