The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has taken over the management of uniBank Ghana Limited, an indigenous lender after it declared it insolvent Tuesday afternoon.
The Bank of Ghana will now be in control of the day to day running of the local bank and has accordingly appointed KPMG as the official administrator to oversee the process, Dr Ernest Addison, Governor of the BoG made this known at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
He explained the takeover was mainly due to insolvency as a result of weak operations.
Explaining the latest development, Dr Addison said the bank in 2017 provided inaccurate data during the central bank’s effort to resolve the problems.
