An official probe into the collapse of BHS has grown so complex that it is consuming one-tenth of the investigative capacity of an agency charged with disciplining rogue directors, a minister has claimed.
Investigators at the Insolvency Service began looking into BHS shortly after the company filed for protection from creditors in April. The agency could not immediately say how many people it has working on the BHS case.
MPs have held their own inquiry into the failure of BHS, which sharply criticised the chains former owner, billionaire Sir Philip Green. It also attacked Dominic Chappell, the former bankrupt who bought the company for £1 last year, only to preside over its demise.
