The directors of Hacketts bookies have decided to place the business in liquidation, which will result in the closure of all of its 18 shops and the loss of 35 jobs.
Originally founded by Cyril and Monica Hackett over 50 years ago, the family business expanded from its Midland base up to a peak of 65 shops nationwide, employing over 160 staff.
The business has struggled in recent years and the directors had sought to restructure the business by closing 26 stores and selling a further 15 shops to Paddy Power.
Declan McDonald and Ken Tyrrell of PwC have been appointed Joint Provisional Liquidators to the company.
All 18 betting shops will remain closed until further notice.
