It was marketed as a way out of debt, but it led to even more problems for a North Providence woman.
Roberta, who asked that we keep her identity private, says she can’t believe she gave away so much personal information.
The voice on the phone seemed so helpful and trustworthy. She believed they’d erase her debt.
A few months ago, Roberta responded to a phone solicitation and decided to give debt consolidation a shot.
“They said they were working with the federal government to cut back all these interest rates,” Roberta said.
