The Henderson County Commissioners Court approved a set of proposed boundaries for a new emergency service district south and west of Athens.
The vote clears the way for placing the ESD 11 election on the Nov. 9 ballot. If approved by the voters, the boundaries for ESD 11 will encompass the area served by the Southside Volunteer Fire Department. Lt. John Holladay said the district will include 130 square miles in which 6,600 people reside.
