ALMOST nine in ten credit card customers who are in the red will carry their debt into the new year, with the average person owing £636, new research shows.
With credit card debt hitting record highs last month, according to figures by the Bank of England, which showed that £572 million was added to credit card bills in November, Christmas spending is set to cause even more financial troubles in the new year.
