A major home building company has collapsed just 18 months after it was fined more than $40,000 for underpaying a worker.
Designer Projects Victoria Pty Ltd was put into liquidation on Monday after the Federal Circuit and Family Court, in November 2022, fined the company $39,960 for failing to calculate backpay and provide pay slips to a worker.
Director Visna Thanthrige was also fined $3,996 – taking the total penalties to $43,956.
The melbourne-based home builder is being liquidated, with its assets divided among creditors, just 18 months after the Fair Work Ombudsman secured a conviction.
The company also traded as Designer Projects and owed up to $300,000 to the tax office.
