Gregg Galardi, the global co-chair of DLA Pipers restructuring practice, has joined Ropes & Gray, the firm announced on Monday.
Galardi represented CIT Group in a 2009 prepackaged bankruptcy one of the largest in U.S. history and has advised as debtors counsel in cases, including Circuit City, Polaroid and City Sports.
He joins Ropes & Gray in its New York office as a partner.
Galardi was hired at DLA Piper in 2011 from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he was a senior partner.
He is a rare talent and we are incredibly pleased to welcome him to the firm, said Mark Bane, who co-chairs the Ropes & Gray business restructuring practice, in a statement.
Galardi was not immediately available for comment.
