MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – More than 100 people at the Dayton Mall’s Elder-Beerman Department store could be out of a job in a matter of months.
Elder-Beerman’s parent company, Bon Ton, announced today: the company is going into liquidation.
Loyal customers of the department store say the news comes as a shock.
“I didn’t believe it,” shopper Ruth Mansfield said. “I was like: ‘No, they’re just saying that.’ I was kind of shocked. This is one of my favorite stores.”
According to Bon Ton: 122 employees at the Dayton Mall’s Elder-Beerman will be out of a job in a matter of months.
The company said in a letter to employees: “The date of the first separation from employment is anticipated to be June 5, 2018.”
