A former Scotland goalkeeper has been made bankrupt with debts of more than £210,000. Rab Douglas, who played for Celtic and Dundee and was capped 19 times for his country, was declared insolvent after failing to settle large bills.
Most of the money is thought to be owed to the tax authorities and relates to investments made in a film production scheme. In recent years top footballers, as well as celebrities and bankers, have invested in the schemes.
Robbie Williams was an investor in a controversial fund accused of being a tax avoidance scheme. Gareth Southgate, the England manager, was one of hundreds of wealthy clients caught up in a £434 million avoidance dispute.
