A married couple the Federal Trade Commission accused of running businesses that claimed to help people relieve their student debt and mortgages but then didnt follow through or return upfront fees were hit with a suspended $2.3 million judgement and ordered to stop offering debt-relief services, a California federal judge ruled Friday.
U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright II signed off on the order barring Tobias and Komal West from advertising, marketing, promoting, offering for sale, or selling debt relief products or services, or assisting others in doing so.
