Gawkers proposed plans for settling bankruptcy would help its creditors collect on debts, a company lawyer said in court Thursday.
As part of its plan, Gawker has agreed to pay Hulk Hogan $31 million, settling an $140 million jury verdict awarded to the ex-professional wrestler last March in his invasion of privacy lawsuit.
The deal also covers certain claims against the websites founder Nick Denton and former editor-in-chief A.J. Daulerio who were on the hook to Hogan for $10 million and $100,000, respectively, Gawker lawyer Gregg Galardi said in court.
Gawker, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy several months after the jury handed down its award, has also come to agreements with some other creditors, …
