The Genoa-based shipping company FT Genoa Tankers, part of the Turkish group Furtrans, has been declared bankrupt by a local court.
The bankruptcy petition was filed by the Italian revenue public agency which claimed it was owed 13m ($14.6m). The agency did not succeed at obtaining the requested sum or at arresting any asset therefore opted for the bankruptcy procedure.
FT Genoa Tankers defines itself as a ship operating company in charge for the management of a fleet of chemical/oil tankers with capacity ranging from 3,500 to 18,000 dwt.
The company managed a dozen of small tankers owned by Furtrans group.
