Pauline Hanson and Colin Barnett traded barbs across the Nullarbor yesterday over how WAs next senator would be appointed as lawyers for Rod Culleton fought his ejection from Parliament.
Senator Hanson took exception to the Premiers claim that it be would be up to him and the WA Cabinet to nominate Mr Culletons replacement in the event of a casual vacancy, saying it would not go down very well with the WA public if One Nation did not get to choose.
But Mr Barnett went further yesterday, telling One Nation to put forward a candidate palatable to the joint sitting of WA Parliament, which would ultimately endorse or reject whoever was nominated.
