Poverty is a crisis. But there are answers.
One common crisis that traps people in poverty is a low credit score. Those with bad credit
often stay stuck in a debt mire. They cant catch up, so they face high finance charges, struggle
to get a job and are denied student loans or mortgages and then they cant catch up.
The average credit score in Columbus is under 670 below the average in Ohio. Why does this
count? The difference between a credit score of 700 and one at 600 is $10,000 more in interest on a
five-year, $25,000 loan. Multiply that by thousands of people. Its a total we cannot afford.
