SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KSPR) It’s been 5 years since Wonders of Wildlife stopped taking hotel – motel tax revenue funds. That money has been split up to pay off city debt and help fund other projects that are expected to bring in tourism.
The tax revenue that comes in each year now is split 40-60.
40% of that money goes towards paying off debt at the Expo Center.
60% of that money gets split between organizations that apply on a yearly bases.In the last few years a variety of organizations have received money to help build projects that will increase tourism or travel.A few examples are the Springfield Art Museum, History Museum and the Discovery Center.
