Hailey Gertner expects to spend time soon reworking and re-evaluating her budget, the record of what shes spending and earning.
Theres a reason for Gerners financial examination. The 26-year-old Greeley resident is one of millions of Americans who later this year will again be responsible for paying student loans following the U.S. Supreme Court decision late last month rejecting President Joe Bidens plan for debt cancellation based on income.
With the forgiveness, it wouldve been such a relief, said Gertner, a financial aid counselor at the University of Northern Colorado and the owner of approximately $32,000 of student debt. It (debt relief) wouldve put a large dent into it and with my husband as well.
