The insolvent Nordseewerken Emden Shipyard (NES) in Germany has been given a cash boost to secure operations for October.
“Money was again provided for NES so that the company will continue,” works council member Bernd Oltmanns told the DPA news agency.
Management had told him that a new company will be founded, with the cash allowing a bridging period to be completed.
October wages have been safeguarded, with staff turning up as usual this week.
“We firmly believe that it will continue,” Oltmanns said.
Talking about a permanent solution for the yard, NES shareholder Patrick Hennings-Huep added: “We are still in the final stages of negotiations.”
Five new orders are said to be close for 2019.
