Disgraced wedding dress designer Johanna Johnson is back at work in a new studio across the road from sydney‘s glamorous Bondi Beach despite the company registered in her name being in liquidation.
It all came crashing down for the designer last year after Johanna Johnson Pty Ltd went into administration, leaving a huge question mark hanging over more than 50 brides who paid thousands of dollars up-front and in full for their wedding gowns.
Johnson promised the women they would still receive their dresses, but that seemed like mission impossible when she was locked out of her Alexandria studio by the liquidator.
It wasn’t just brides who were affected, but also her own staff.
Daniel Jones realised a little over a year into his time working under Johnson that he hadn’t been paid a cent in superannuation and neither had some of his colleagues.
“When you see her travelling first class or staying at fancy hotels, it’s like, ‘maybe your flight could’ve paid a bit of my super.’ Just a little bit would’ve been better than nothing,” Mr Jones told A Current Affair in May.
He claims to be owed “around $20,000” in superannuation.
