CONTROVERSIAL underground coal gasification company Linc Energy has gone into voluntary administration.
In a statement to the ASX, the companys board said it was in the best interests of the company to make the move.
It comes a month after Linc was charged with causing serious harm to the environment at its UCG pilot site near Chinchilla, about 160km west of Toowoomba.
The company says the decision was made based on legal and financial advice.
Linc Energy was committed to stand trial on five charges relating to breaches in Queenslands environmental laws at its underground coal site last month.
The states environmental department has accused the company of wilfully causing serious harm at their site on the Darling Downs.
