two Butlers stores in Luxembourg City and Esch/Alzette will not be affected by the application for insolvency of the parent company in Germany because they are
operated as franchises, according to a spokesman for the provisional
insolvency administrator Jörg Bornheimer in Cologne.
Both shops in the Grand Duchy remain open as usual and do not have plans to close.
According
to a statement, the Butlers chain had filed a petition
for the opening of insolvency proceedings at the District Court in
Cologne. The declared goal is the preservation and rehabilitation of the company.
In Germany, the chain operates 94 branches as well as others in Austria, Great Britain and Switzerland.
