More than a fifth (22%) of East of England adults say that their personal or household finances are currently affecting their mental health, according to a survey of over 2,000 British adults by insolvency and restructuring trade body R3 and market research company ComRes.
The R3 research revealed that other key causes affecting mental health were personal or family members health issues (21%), an individuals or family members job (13%), UK or global current events (13%) and relationships with family (13%).
Over a third (37%) of adults in the Eastern region say that they often or sometimes struggle to make it to payday, with the cost of food (52%) and fuel and transport costs (45%) cited as the top reasons for the financial shortfall.
