KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) — More than 43 million people across the country have been shackled by student loan debt. One in 10 of those people let their loans default.
“It’s easy to get a student loan, it’s more difficult to remember to pay it back,” said Dick Smelser, Director of Financial Aid at Pellissippi State Community College.
Pellissippi State Community College helped keep former students from defaulting.
“We realized students who are having difficulty paying their student loans are just defaulting on their student loans,” said Nadia Keyes, Manager of Financial Aid at Pellissippi State Community College.
