PORTSMOUTH
The Wilson High School band still owes more than $9,000 for a performance trip to Florida last month, and the City Council may help pay it off.
The total trip cost about $48,700 for 66 students, staff and chaperones for several days. That includes $12,000 for bus travel, about $1,800 for meals, $34,900 for lodging and and other expenses, according to a division summary.
Mayor Kenny Wright said he wants the council and School Board to talk about it at a joint meeting Monday.
When council members honored the band at a meeting last month, director John Jenkins asked them and the community for help paying the bill.
