Former NBA player Jontay Porter was reportedly urged to throw games to settle his “large” gambling debt.
Former NBA player Jontay Porter was told to throw games to clear his “large” gambling debt, according to Mediaite’s Ahmad Austin Jr.
Porter, who played for the Toronto Raptors, was banned for life by the NBA in April after the league was notified of suspicious gambling activities in different sportsbooks related to his player prop bets.
Federal prosecutors said that Porter told Long Li Pham, a man known as “Bruce”, and a group of co-conspirators which games he was going to take himself out early.
Porter did this after he was urged to do so to settle his debts.
