Salvation Army corp officer Captain Annette Bray is hoping to get a finance scheme running in Invercargill before the end of the year.
A community finance scheme is about to be launched in Southland to help combat debt problems in the region.
The scheme is being launched by the Salvation Army.
Salvation Army Captain Annette Bray said the Manakau Salvation Army had set up the pilot scheme and the success of it led to five more locations being announced, including Invercargill.
