A council plan to salvage the Club Hotel as its new administration centre could see the Shire of Wiluna left without a working pub.
The hotel, built in 1933 on the site of the original 1897 Club Hotel, had an uncertain future after its owners placed the business into administration six months ago.
While he admitted not having a local tavern would be a concern, Shire acting chief executive Colin Bastow said there were benefits to Wiluna becoming dry, with anti-social behaviour among the key issues across towns in the northern Goldfields.
Effectively, over-the-counter sales would be limited, he said.
