The letter writer from Medina is missing the point when he makes fun of Gov. Mike DeWines warnings regarding aggressive advertising being used to promote sports gambling and likens the sports betting ads to Ohio Lottery ads (The gambling ads DeWine has tuned out, Dec. 31). We all know what a lottery is. Some will participate, others will not. This has always been the case.
On the other hand, sports books are being advertised as some kind of entertainment or experience. Bally Sports Ohio even had some kind of expert explain over/under and parlays prior to a recent Cavaliers game telecast.
It would appear newbies are being targeted. Unfortunately, the gambling ingenue could wind up in real debt, real fast.
