A grieving student nurse is in thousands of pounds worth of debt after being refused Government help for her dads funeral.
Beccy Oxley was forced to pay out over £3,000 for funeral arrangements after her beloved dad died suddenly in November 2016.
The 24-year-old, who was his next of kin and one of his only surviving relatives, applied for the governments funeral payments scheme – which was set up to help people on a low income help to pay for funerals.
However because Beccy is a full-time student, studying nursing, who also completes an unpaid 30-hour-per-week placement as part of her course, she was denied help and forced to loan the money to pay for her fathers send-off.
