Syracuse, N.Y. — There will be a workshop Thursday evening in Syracuse to help income-qualified customers apply for debt relief or other help paying utility bills.
State officials earlier this year allocated $587 million to pay off utility debts incurred by low-income customers during the Covid pandemic. For anyone who hasnt already received the benefit, the deadline to apply is Dec. 31.
Trained advocates will be at Beauchamp Library, 2111 S. Salina St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday to help customers apply for debt forgiveness and other assistance programs that help offset the cost of utilities.
