LONDON German tennis legend Boris Becker, who won six Grand Slam titles, has been declared bankrupt by a London court on Wednesday.
Although 49-year-old Beckers lawyers asked the bankruptcy court in the British capital for a last chance to pay off the debt, it was rejected by Registrar Christine Derrett.
Beckers lawyers argued that there was clear evidence that his client could repay, through a refinancing agreement, the debt he contracted with private bankers Arbuthnot Latham & Co, estimated at around six million euros ($6.69 million), for remortgaging a property in Majorca, but the court declared him insolvent.
