A scheme to ease pressure on families struggling to repay debts by allowing them a breathing space to get their finances under control has been backed by Tottenham MP David Lammy.
The proposals, which have receibed cross-party Parliamentary support, are aimed at preventing households from being harassed and harried for repayment by aggressive creditors or families falling further into debt because of unaffordable interest rates.
An estimated 5060 families with 8,968 children are living with problem debts in Mr Lammys constituency according to data from the Bank of England.
