Developer Lawrence Kenwright has rubbished claims he is not the man to save Cardiffs Coal Exchange .
Mr Kenwrights Signature Living company, which has restored derelict historic buildings in Liverpool, has been chosen to lead the £42m restoration.
But Cardiff South and Penarth MP Stephen Doughty has questioned whether Mr Kenwright is the right person , given his company was liquidated and he was declared bankrupt as a result of the credit crunch.
Mr Kenwright says the bankruptcy made him a better businessman and says he has huge plans for the Coal Exchange.
