A chain of high-end steakhouses has been shut down after the company that runs them went into voluntary administration.
Botswana Butchery’s venues in sydney, Canberra and melbourne stopped trading yesterday, administrators BDO Australia said in a statement.
The venues were known for selling expensive cuts of meat, with one $500 dish boasting a 1.6-kilogram wagyu tomahawk covered in gold leaf.
The restaurants were owned by hospitality business Good Group Australia, which went into administration last month.
Two other restaurants owned by Good Group Australia, White + Wongs in Sydney and Melbourne have already been closed down.
Duncan Clubb and Andrew Sallway, from BDO Australia, said the Botswana Butchery restaurants were running at a loss.
“Due to the significant cash losses being incurred in operating the restaurants, the group’s shareholders are no longer able to fund the ongoing trading and restructuring costs,” they said in the statement.
The Botswana Butchery chain opened its first store in Queenstown, New Zealand in 2007, before adding another in Auckland.
